Preserving memories and honoring the life of a Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Mentor & Friend
The family of Richard Touma, beloved father and grandfather, wish to convey their sincere thanks to all who have expressed sympathy for his passing at age 95 on November 21, 2023.
The family held a private ceremony to honor Richard's memory and to celebrate his achievements as a mechanical engineer, advocate for higher education and social justice, mentor to a generation of students and co-workers near and far, past and present, and most importantly, to honor his memory as a loving and devoted father.
Richard will be remembered for his restless, inquisitive mind and long, serpentine conversations, for his friendship, his unwavering Brooklyn spirit, for championing the needy and less fortunate, his sympathy, his charity and understanding, for always putting the well-being of others in front of his own, for amemory of historical proportions and, of course, for his love of cold orange soda.
All those wishing to honor his memory are invited to donate to any local or national organization that assists in helping the needs of the blind and visually handicapped.
Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
Hannah, Richard's 4th oldest grandchild, interviewed her "Gidu" in 2021 for her school newspaper. To listen to that interview, download the MP3 below...
